Good afternoon, Adstringendum!

[Rachel is outside today, wearing a red shirt and a blue skirt, with white leggings and blue shoes. To the majority of Adstringendum, it appears that she's just wearing what she always wears, but to those that are hip to Rachel's tremendous amount of jive, she's rather... patriotic today.

She adjusts the PCD quickly before nodding firmly to herself.]

I do believe that should do it... well! For those of you that are American, today is Independence Day! And while the majority of you are not even from ... well, Earth or anything resembling it, I thought it would be appropriate for those to celebrate it accordingly. And back home, when I celebrate it, my dads take me to the parade, in which I sing the National Anthem, and we celebrate by eating Tofutti and vegan dogs -- but that is entirely besides the point.

[DEEP BREATH.]

The point is that I would like, very much, to sing it for you, so you may enjoy it for the beautiful song that it is, and so we can all share something of an Independence Day -- even if you aren't from America or Earth or the universe that I reside in.

[aka she's not going to give you a choice, adoring public. But to her credit, at least she sings the anthem beautifully and without error. And when she is done, Rachel gives a winning smile, before giving a curtsy, and the feed is shut off.]

We must all sing praise to our autonomy. As a Luxembourgian citizen, I shall be the first to celebrate any country's rightful, political independence.

It's one of my favorite holidays.

America has had the time and inclination to develop a multitude of traditions in regards to it, I imagine.

It is something of a very big deal, yes. We take our independence very seriously -- and there is a lot of pomp and circumstance.

The people in my neighborhood back home buy the illegal kinds of fireworks and light them in the backyard.

Surely there must be speeches and military parades too? An official celebration of your nation's proud history?

Oh, yes -- there are parades and a lot of politicians make speeches. I am fairly certain the president makes an address.

The military parades also occur, but the one in Ohio is rather small -- most of the soldiers are still in Iraq.

Father always holds his grand oration on May 11th, first to the entire parliament. Around afternoon, he would be speaking to the crowds that assemble in the capital. Then, Jean Louis would - will follow, with his address. Their words carry hope and strength, for anyone who is listening.

May 11th -- that's already passed, hasn't it? You should have said something -- we could have done something in that honor.

I had not yet arrived at that point, I'm afraid. My husband was here, but as such found himself in new surroundings. He must have been otherwise occupied.

Well, if you are still around next May, then we can certainly plan something.

In that case, I shall instruct you out in singing the Luxembourgian anthem.

Enjolras still has to teach me how to sing the French one.

[Huff.]

But I would love to learn how to sing it properly.

Do you speak a second language to English, Mademoiselle Berry? Seeing how the Luxembourgian anthem has both a German and a French version, along with the original.

Oh... no... I tried speaking French once and Enjolras laughed at me.

Kurt is fluent, though.

[At this, she purses her lips. A hint of warmth in her eyes.]

The French can be unseemly arrogant in concerns to their language. Simply speaking with the accent I naturally wield, as a Luxembourgian, has earned me many unwarranted jokes.

Oh, he was right to laugh at me, I was atrocious.

With your musicality, it is only a question of patience. French is like a cock crowing, sharp and undeniable in its sound. Yet, it is only a talking bird.

Do you think you could teach me?

There is nothing preventing me, currently. If you are truly interested in learning, I will be honoured to function as your tutor.
