[There is a tinkling of piano -- a few stray notes -- a few casual scales -- before Rachel tries to sing softly to herself. It's obvious that she's crying. Her breath keeps hitching as she tries to hold back sobs, but Rachel, being Rachel, tries anyway.

The opening chords should be pretty familiar to anyone ~~who has any taste in theatre~~ who knows Rachel.]

Oh, my man I love him so -- he'll never know... all my life is just despair, but I don't care...when he takes me in his arms, the world is bright... alright...

[Her breath hitches and Rachel abruptly stops singing, drawing in a shaky breath, before she tries to continue -- but it just ends in another sob and the feed shuts off abruptly.

There is, however, a text sent afterwards.]

Jesse went home.

[If there was ever a time she wished her Grace back, it would be now. At least then she could intrude on the girl and offer comfort- because Angels intrude and that's always a good thing. ... Right?]

[She lost someone, too, recently; she knows how Rachel must be feeling.]

[It's only because there is a filter that Rachel does not text Anna. That and it's Anna. Texting her would be more than mildly rude.

But Rachel is struggling to catch her breath. When she cries, she cries. She's not really the sort of person to hold that kind of stuff in.

Which is why Rachel suddenly becomes angry.]

[There's a hiccup and the ugly sound of mashed piano keys as Rachel tries to get a grip on herself.]

Why did they both have to go home and leave me here, I would never do that to them!

[Even the very, very, very start. Rachel isn't stupid. But that doesn't make the pain any less.]

[There's a long silence, after that. And Rachel knows he's right. Maybe that's why it hurts so badly. But, at the moment, all Rachel can think of is how lonely and oppressive this place feels. And how badly she wants to go to school. And how much she misses Finn and Kurt and Mercedes and Tina and Artie and how she just wants to go back to where she was, with her team hugging her and telling her how much they loved her and it's so damn lonely.

After a long silence, he finally gets a text back.]

-=Yes, he switched it to voice. There are buttons that are sticking on his machine and it's just safer that way. Plus, he never wishes suffering on another person, so if he could send her home, it'd be done in a heart beat.=-

i miss finn and kurt and mercedes and i may never see jesse again

[He gets uneven breathing and the odd hitches of breath that are associated with crying heavily. But she doesn't switch it back off.]

i miss singing with finn and going to the mall with kurt and yelling at noah to go to temple with me

i miss having jesse around without getting my heart broken

this place makes it worse
