[The PCD is now granted to Jesse and Rachel sitting in the theatre that looks like Christmas has arrived early. Tinsel and ornaments and everything Rachel has hoarded for the past... well, since she got here, really, is in piles around them. And Rachel seems to just be finishing a muttered warning of ‘Behave yourself’ to Jesse before she begins to speak.]

Good evening, Adstringendum! We’re looking for volunteers to decorate.

[And Rachel elbows Jesse lightly to continue.]

Preferably those with actual skill, taste and with a normal, sane personality. But this being nearly impossible to find - at least two of the three.

[ And then he mutters to Rachel ‘are you sure about this?’

Rachel’s smile, in response, only becomes tighter, while she works to perform necessary damage control. After shooting Jesse a look that clearly says ‘Yes, I am sure’, she fluffs a stack of papers in her lap. ]

I have already drafted up a list of individuals to designate to specific tastes, which includes decoration, set design, costumes, the ability to chop down a tree, and ornament creation. We would also like to know whether or not individuals who have the ability to sing would like to participate in our holiday extravaganza. Our fellow glee club members, of course, will attend, but I wish for everyone to be involved, not just those of pre-determined talent.

[ Jesse, in response, looks like he might be considering his girlfriend’s sanity, after all. ]

There will be at least one audition though, to make sure we will not sing carols along to Rebecca Black’s voice, or worse, Faith Hill’s ----

What Jesse means to say is that we will be equal opportunity to all individuals who wish to take part in this holy time.

[Keep on smiling, Rachel. Just keep on smiling.]

What - That’s not what I -

[But then he sees Rachel’s expression and well, she can get scary ok? He just gives a small eye roll and then nods. But not without muttering something about ‘they’ll probably be drowned in our awesome vocals anyway’.

And Rachel, for that comment, elbows him lightly, before refocusing her attention on the camera.]

Now! Remember! Everyone deserves a chance to shine! I expect plenty of volunteers and if you do not volunteer, I will certainly come find you. The holiday season is about giving and sharing, not being lazy.

[And she flashes a grin.]

Have at it!

Adstringendum!

[Guess who is in her own body and guess who is busy opening up a worn crate clearly labeled Holiday in her theatre? This girl! And she's tugging a long well-loved coil of tinsel out of the box with a flourish and a smile, draping it across the piano almost lovingly as she smiles brightly toward the camera.]

I know the event is currently in affect and many of you will not be able to see me through your own eyes until at least Saturday, but I wanted to allow you all the opportunity to save the date for December the twenty-fourth, because I -- and my fellow Glee club denizens -- are going to put on a Christmas concert in the theatre.

[And Rachel tugs out a Santa hat with a pleased look.]

I suppose I should clarify -- a holiday concert, as Noah and I certainly intend on exhibiting the very best of the Jewish faith during the week, as this year, according to my calculations, Hanukkah and Christmas fall during the same week! As does my birthday.

[Hint hint. 8|]

So -- to those who wish to attend, I will be planning food, and beverages, and mistletoe, and -- well, provided there is no event, that is, but even if there is, barring that it does not turn us all into mindless drones, I expect all of you to be there.

[And Rachel pulls on the hat, tossing the PCD a look.]

All of you.

[And the feed shuts off, but around five minutes later, another message is sent out!]

I feel like Ariel -- !

[That proclamation is accompanied by Rachel Berry, who flashes her brilliantly colored tail -- which has a rainbow assortment of scales, sparkling in the light of the water -- in front of the camera with a laugh. She looks happier than she has in days -- Blaine and his Disney ambush seems to have done the trick to break her out of her reluctant funk of finding out her future.]

This certainly could be worse, couldn't it? But -- business is business! And even though I am part-fish, I am still a professional, so I would like to offer all of you the opportunity to learn from me.

[Rachel flicks the PCD upward through the water with her tail before catching it, spinning around in the water, her hair flying, before she settles in a bed of coral with a grin.]

I want to teach people how to sing, how to dance, how to play piano -- and while I've had moderate success with a few select individuals, I would like to extend the offer to everyone who would like to learn. I expect nothing in return, just your presence, and a determination to succeed.

[Rachel pauses before she becomes slightly more serious.]

After all, without a bright spot in the day, we have nothing to truly work for, right?

[She flashes a bright smile before the PCD shuts off -- well, for most people.]

[Rachel is at a booth -- specifically, a game of skee ball. The wooden ball is clutched in her hands and she looks woefully unsure of herself. However, the individual running the stand encourages her to take a shot, and so Rachel does, the ball racing along the wooden track to sink neatly into the outmost ring, earning Rachel a tiny beaded bracelet.

Her jaw sets into a scowl at the small prize before she slides another smooth stone towards the operator, earning another wooden ball. She takes another shot, but it goes awry, and it lands once more in the lowest scoring ring. She earns another gaudy piece of costume jewelry and the operator of the booth seems to tell Rachel to try something else, but Rachel Barbra Berry is on a mission now.

The feed continues for at least twenty minutes -- Rachel pushing another stone forward and earning another ball. She gets a heap of small prizes -- plastic rings, tiny stuffed mice, a pencil with a rabbit eraser on it -- but eventually, Rachel lines up, and sinks the wooden ball in the direct center, on her very last stone, to earn a prize of her choice.

She selects a blue bear with a star on his stomach instantly, accepting the bear and her prizes -- which the operator has put into a bag for her -- with the first bright smile she has worn in at least a week. She holds up the bear, to inspect it, and her smile turns slightly watery, but she puts on a brave face all the same, before she speaks to the booth operator.]

Gold stars are my thing, you know. I sign my name with a gold star -- because gold stars are a metaphor, and metaphors are very important. They're a metaphor for me being a star.

[She pauses before she hugs the bear to her chest, ignoring the operator's lack of interest in her statement in favor of smiling to herself.]

I think I've forgotten that, lately.

[She beams at the operator before wandering off, taking up her PCD, with her Care Bear, after tossing a friendly:]

Thank you!

[Over her shoulder with a hum as she moves to the next ride.]
[There is a tinkling of piano -- a few stray notes -- a few casual scales -- before Rachel tries to sing softly to herself. It's obvious that she's crying. Her breath keeps hitching as she tries to hold back sobs, but Rachel, being Rachel, tries anyway.

The opening chords should be pretty familiar to anyone who has any taste in theatre who knows Rachel.]

Oh, my man I love him so -- he'll never know... all my life is just despair, but I don't care...when he takes me in his arms, the world is bright... alright...

[Her breath hitches and Rachel abruptly stops singing, drawing in a shaky breath, before she tries to continue -- but it just ends in another sob and the feed shuts off abruptly.

There is, however, a text sent afterwards.]

Jesse went home.

[Rachel sounds distracted -- but her tone is sincere and quiet, at least.]

I'm -- really sorry for how I acted this week. It seems, for a brief moment, that I entirely forgot where I came from and --

[There's the tiniest hitch of breath before Rachel clears her throat, steeling her nerves.]

While apologies will not take back what was said and done, I wouldn't feel right not offering one, anyway. So, I am sorry, and to whoever I spoke with during the event, I can assure you that I am not that much of a --

[There is a crash as a stack of sheet music slams into the wall -- it flutters to the floor, spreading all over the place as Rachel tosses another sheaf of it over her shoulder, going through a box on her bed. The room, over all, is a disaster -- clothes are in a pile, boxes in a mess -- but what's most different is the way Rachel is dressed.

Gone are the animal sweaters, colored tights, and plaid skirts. No, Rachel is dressed in a loose blue shirt, jeans, heels -- her hair is in loose curls, and that gold star necklace that she wears absolutely everywhere? It, too, is on the ground.

Finally, Rachel seems to find what she is looking for, and she holds up the sheet music with something of a cocky smile, and she looks at the PCD from underneath her eyelashes.

Why, yes, she knew it was recording. A star must always be ready, after all.]

Jesse!

[It's full of warmth, even a certain flirtatious coyness.]

I require an opinion, if you would oblige me.

somethingspecial: (♪ Hell to the no.)
[Rachel is seated on her bed, legs crossed, a notepad in front of her, a pen between her teeth. For a moment, she appears to not know the PCD is recording -- but then she looks up, checking something off on the paper on her lap.]

I have a few items to address, so if everyone would kindly listen, I would very much appreciate it.

First, I appear to have lost my memories of this place. Luckily, I am a very avid journal taker, so I have been re-reading my experiences in this world. To those who I was friends with, I would like very much to reconnect with you and catch up. [And here, a watery smile -- a warm tone.] So, please, tell me what I've forgotten. And I apologize for forgetting.

[She looks down at her notepad and ticks something off before continuing.]

Secondly, I would like very much to know what attacked Blaine so we can have that creature put down immediately. If it was not a creature, but a person, then I will have you know that you are a coward and worth none of the kindness these people possess. You will be caught and punished thusly -- if you have the courage to come forward and say something about it.

[Another look down, another check mark.]

Thirdly, I would like to arrange an official schedule for the Glee club rehearsals. To anyone who would like to join late, please contact either Kurt or I to schedule a time for us to listen to you sing.

[A hum -- another check mark -- and, suddenly, Rachel's voice becomes very tense with annoyance.]

And speaking of Kurt -- this is item four -- I would kindly like to speak with you concerning my business immediately. I will be in my room. If you do not come here within five minutes, I will come find you, and I will not be happy about it.

[Rachel looks down at her list, before humming in appreciation, flashing the PCD a smile as she reaches out to shut it off, before she pauses.]

... and, Jesse, I made it back safely.

[With that, she turns the PCD off.]
