[Rachel is looking into a mirror, adjusting fuzzy pink bunny ears that she found on her head when she woke up this morning. She looks fairly happy and pleased with herself, and after assuring they were on straight, she reaches for a stack of paper on the table to her right to go through them, unaware that the PCD is recording.]

A sizeable number... mmm. I can't believe it's January already. What year would it even be?

[She flips through the pages for a moment before shifting her eyes to her bedside table. On it is a glass mug, with a gold star, bold lettering across it reading 'RACHEL'. The teenager smiles for a moment after seeing it before sitting on her bed to pick it up, papers forgotten, turning the glass over in her hands.

Before she starts to sing softly to herself.]

Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind...should auld acquaintance be forgot, and days of auld lang syne...for auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne...we'll take a cup of kindness yet, for days of auld lang syne...

[Rachel looks up at the singing along, but continues to sing despite the harmony. When the verse is complete, she blinks.]

How? It was 2010 when I left home. Edward is from 1927, and so is Alphonse... I'm certain you're from a different year, as well.

2010, 1927, and 2007 are all part of the Gregorian Calendar. Since Pope Gregory the Thirteenth isn't here, we can make our own.

We should call this Year 1. We'll call it the Rachelian Calendar, if you like.

[She looks up at the PCD with a blink, then a smile as she turns the cup over.]

My mom gave it to me.

I met her two or so months ago.

[There's something odd in her expression now. Sadness, maybe. A tinge of regret, of pain. Shelby was her mother, but she wasn't her mom. She had her dads for that.]

She gave me this when she said goodbye... I found it in my room on Christmas.

It's better that way, though. She was busy, with her job, with Vocal Adrenaline and -- well, my dads raised me, she hadn't seen me since I was a baby, so.

It's always better that they don't come waltzing back in, thinking they have some claim on you when they were never around in the first place.

She expected something different, I guess, in meeting me. Like everything would just be normal and okay.

... I don't regret it, though. I needed to meet her. And I'm glad that I have this as a reminder.

[Now she has a special cup to drink out of whenever she's 'thirsty'.]
