[The feed clicks on to show a girl dressed to the nines sitting on a rock. In the rain. In any other moment, Rachel Berry would appreciate the dramatic nuances of the scene, but for the moment? The girl looks scared, arms wrapped around herself, and she's shivering.]

This isn't funny. Whatever has happened, I'm going to figure it out. You hear me, Vocal Adrenaline?!

[And she's calling into the woods now, because obviously, this is the rival glee club's fault. ~~She's serious.~~]

I'm going to get back to the performance hall and we're going to win, without your cheating! I demand to be returned at once!

[Her bravado is broken by a small sob as Rachel tucks her head into her arms once again, totally ignorant of the PCD recording her.]

Oh, Finn, where are you?

[SUDDENLY, GIRL IN THE HOUSE. Al pauses on the way to get a warm mug of tea, eyes wide.]

A-Ah, hello! I didn't know we had a guest!

-=still shivering as he waits to warm up.=-

She was going to bring the rabbits out with her caterwauling.

I wasn't caterwauling.

[You think Ed is shivering, try being in a soaked cocktail dress.]

[Translation from Edwardian: lost girl in need of help. Brought her home to make sure she would be okay. ... and Al knows his brother. He's branching out and helping people again because he needs to get his mind off losing Winry. This is a step in the right direction, at least.]

Ah, so you're new. Don't worry, we'll get you taken care of. I'm Alphonse, it's nice to meet you. [Al's smile is warm.] We should probably get you two out of those wet clothes or you won't warm up properly.

[As he speaks, Al goes to get blankets from the linen closet nearby.] I think she's more Winry's size than Mom's...

One doesn't notice the smell of their own morning breath, either!

-=Looks over to Al. There was a reason why he hasn't pulled off his wool sweater, yet.=-

-=Frowns. Those are Winry's clothes. But it's not like she's around to put them to use.=-

[The metal rattling hadn't escaped her notice from earlier, but Rachel hasn't thought to bring it up. At least, not yet. In the meantime, Rachel has decided that Alphonse will be much easier to get along with than Ed.]

It's nice to meet you, Alphonse. I'm Rachel. And I wasn't caterwauling. [With a flat look to Edward.] Thank you for your hospitality and -- a set of clothes would be great. I was supposed to be singing tonight for Regionals and I'm afraid I'm not very well dressed to -- ... traverse the wilderness.

Rachel. [Al repeats it with a nod, giving Ed a sideways look before smiling brightly.] Don't mind Brother, he growls a lot, but he's a lot nicer than he acts.

[Al pats a hand to Ed's damp sweater in point.] You can change in your room, you're dripping all over the floor.

[Winry's clothes, yes, but practicality wins out. Al checks out the linen closet for some jeans, a belt, and one of his own shirts. No women's underthings at the moment Rachel, sorry.]

Don't worry about it, it's happened to all of us here. Now, go get changed, the both of you. Miss Rachel can use the hall bathroom. We'll talk more once you're warmed up.

Wouldn't be dripping if it weren't raining. -=Gets up stiffly out of his seat as he scratches his stomach. there's a peek of really nice abs there. Football players don't get these kinds of six packs.=-

Whatever, Mr Mom. -=goes to ruffle Al's hair as he limps past, the cold finally soaking into his limbs and stumps.=-

[Rachel sighs and gets up, shedding Ed's coat to leave it draped over the chair to dry. She takes the clothes gingerly, not wanting to get them wet, forcing a smile in Al's direction.

That limp makes her feel guilty, Edward. ~~And her heart belongs to Finn and she totally is not paying attention to your awesome body thank you very much nope.~~]

If I weren't dropped into another world without anyone I know, I would appreciate the ... drama of the scene. A girl left alone in the rain in a cocktail dress waiting for someone to rescue her. It's very -- ... damsel in distress.

[She sighs. Just the image she wants to portray.]

-=Have a loud groan in the hallway as he heard that.=-

This is why dragons should eat more princesses! They're always waiting for some dopey prince to save them all the damn time!

If I were a princess, do you really think I would be singing for a public school in a show choir?

[And she's stomping off to the bathroom. It's the start of a beautiful friendship.]

Don't mention it, Rachel. It's our pleasure. [Al ducks his head at the hair-ruffle, grinning, then sighs at the banter. It's good for them.]

Would that make you the dopey prince?

[Al hides his laughter behind his hand. He's missed the doors slamming in the house. It's a sign that things are looking up, if they have enough energy to fuss at each other.

Al will have the tea and stuff ready by the time they're back, Kitty cuddled up in his lap as he sits at the table.]

-=Returns first, shooting a glare at Al about the dopey prince comment.=-

No. Because I actually didn't get eaten.

-=He's back in his chair, left leg thrown out and then hitched up onto a spare chair as he reaches for a hot mug.=-

She doesn't know about alchemy. -=usually, new arrivals knew SOMETHING of it. He'll keep his mug cradled in his right hand to warm up the metal under the glove. His hair is combed, but still wet.=-

[It takes Rachel awhile to comb the tangles out of her hair with her fingers, but she eventually emerges in a shirt that's a little big for her and pants that may or may not fit. But it's better than being in wet clothes and she carefully drapes her dress over the same chair as the coat, reluctant to toss it, even though it's probably ruined.]

There...

[And she sits down gingerly, pulling a cup of tea towards her with half a smile. But her fingers tighten around the warmth and she looks miserable again. Though the bickering had been a good distraction.]

... so this is really a new world. And I can't go home.

Princes don't get eaten, that's not how the stories go. ... there are a lot of worlds. It's not so surprising that she'd not know what an alchemist is. We'd never heard of Christmas before this place, remember?

[Al will see what he can do with that dress, it's too pretty to waste. He settles down, considering Rachel's sadness.]

Not intentionally, no. But back there, time stops, so you're not missing a thing. And when you go back home, you won't remember being here at all. It's like you never left.

All of us are in the same situation, Rachel. But this place can be a good place, it just depends on what you make of it.

-=Grunts softly. Al had a point. And he's better suited to talking to Rachel, anyway. He'll just sit here, listening as he drinks his tea, waiting for the rattle to subside in his automail.=-

So my dads won't notice that I'm gone at all?

[Rachel isn't sure whether or not she should feel relieved or indignant.]

... I guess that's good. I don't want them to call the cops and humiliate me in front of the entire school when they realize that some spirits took me enough to another -- is that noise coming from you?

[Excuse the bluntness, Edward, she's seriously concerned. Slash worried. Slash concerned he's a robot. In disguise. ~~Seriously.~~.]

No, they won't. ... Dads?

[He sounds... cautious, surprised. That's new. That's extremely new. He'll let Ed speak for himself on the automail, though.]

I'm an amputee. -=Glares at her in challenge.=- I have a metal arm and leg. Getting cold or wet outside is a bad idea for me.

-=Might as well start yanking off his gloves. His right hand is metallic, looking like a gauntlet, and his fingers move as if he had a flesh hand inside them. Right now, it's curling around the porcelin cup, showing off his hand-eye coordination.=-

[Rachel blinks at the hand. One of her close friends is in a wheelchair and she's the resident loser of her group. Being weird or unnatural doesn't bother her.]

... if it's a bad idea, then why did you do it? And I have two gay dads. [In an afterthought to Al, almost distractedly.]

[Al's not going to come to Ed's rescue on that one. Go on, Ed, tell her that you didn't want her to get eaten by bunnies. Al carefully sips his tea, eyes wide, intensely interested.

... in his world... that would never happen.]

You... do? And people are okay with that? Nobody gives them a hard time? [It's not said worriedly, but in fascination, almost with... hope, of some sort.]

-=Looks over to Al with a very tender and brotherly look. Al deserved that kind of happiness.=-

-=Then he's back to Rachel.=- Because your damn caterwauling would have brought the bunnies close and like HELL I want to deal with some damn bunnies in this weather!

Only the ignorant idiots who feel the need to complain about the fact that two people who love each other might want to have a beautiful daughter like me around to give them happiness. [Huff. Selfish and self-centered Rachel might be, she has no patience for ignorance.] Of course they have their difficulties. Some people are very closed minded and don't understand the logistics of love, but that doesn't affect me or my dads in the slightest. Let them be ignorant and miserable. It doesn't affect me.

... and for the last time, I wasn't caterwauling!

[But Al's brightened quite a bit, a smile coming to his face. He's still worried, but quite a bit more hopeful, now. Maybe things really will work out in other worlds.]

[Al breathes deeply, but puts a hand over his mouth to stop the chuckling.]

Well, what matters is that you're here now, and you're safe. This is the first time in a long time Ed's brought home a stray. Usually it's me... but you're welcome to stay as long as you want.
