Rachel - there is no way I'll let you stay there on your own. If you want to stay there I can - sit under a tree with you. [We'll even look like a Taylor Swift music video -]
[Part of her -- her pride -- doesn't want to hit the button, because it's just going to make people talk. But the larger part of her, the scared little girl part of her, doesn't want to be alone, either.
Al has to deal with Ed. She stoutly refuses to ask Kurt to come join her.]
I'll be right over - [he grabs the jacket she had given him when he arrived and walks - almost runs to where she is. When he'll get there he'll give her one long look before sitting down, wrapping the jacket around her shoulders and pulling her for a small hug because she looks so small]
[It's quite the sorry sight -- her hair is still messed up from sleep, her eyes are puffy and red, and her slippers are almost certainly destroyed. She doesn't protest at the coat around her shoulders, but Rachel stiffens when he pulls her into a hug --
-- for about two seconds before leaning against him, completely and utterly exhausted, the comfort desperately needed and appreciated.
[... well, of all the things Rachel was expecting, it certainly was not that. Maybe a 'why didn't you tell me?' or 'that's just great' or some kind of snide remark, but not an -- apology?
[In a way he feels that she is. After all it was his arrival that spiraled things so out of control. Not entirely his fault - and he doesnt' give a damn about the people who were in the fight, he just cares that he managed to make things harder for her when it should have been the other way. So he'll agree to disagree with her and just hold her, let her have a bit of peace of mind]
Whenever you'd like Rachel. [and he means it too, he knows better by now than to talk to Rachel about choices. He has no grasp of the full story and truly he isn't that concerned with it. He made one tragic mistake over being jealous and it's not a place he'll allow himself to come back to. Whatever happened, it's not her fault and she doesn't deserve the pressure.
So he's even more arrogantly laid back than usual, amazingly enough]
[That is -- entirely the opposite reaction she expected, so for once, his arrogance is appreciated. She pulls her knees to her chest, to make herself as small a ball as possible, sighing to herself at the choice of wording.]
I can assure you that this is not a regular occurrence.
Do you think they'll come punch me in my sleep? [He chuckles since, really, really he doesn't care. God knows Jesse can be as dramatic as Rachel but it usually happens when he really cares about something. The fact that this entire place hates him, or that people here already say his name 10 times a day and feel like they know him when they don't - that could have been upsetting if he wasn't Jesse St. James who found most of these people inferior to him and thus didn't even bother to try and change how they see him.
Rachel was the important one, the only one whose opinion he valued]
You know if it'll mean they'll get off - [he wants to say 'our' but -] The subject, I'll allow one of them to punch me. Not in the face, though. [He means it too fkhjf]

Hardly. If they don't have the dignity to punch you while you're awake, then they truly aren't worth the effort.
[Rachel closes her eyes.]
They won't. I told them all to be civil and not be judgmental, but I see how far that lasted.

I know it will. It always does, in a manner of speaking. Somehow, someway.
