somethingspecial | 26 [Accidental Video]

[Adstringendum, you have a wonderful view of a staircase within Solve et Coagula. The PCD looks like it's on the floor and no one seems to be in sight -- yet.

Soon, a mattress appears at the top of the staircase, wielded by the tiny diva powerhouse that is Rachel Berry. She looks like she's having some difficulty pulling the mattress upright, but one does not master the art of the pique without having supreme body strength. So, on the very tips of her toes, Rachel manages to place the mattress near the top of the stairs --

But unfortunately for Rachel, the mattress is much taller than she is, and when it tips forward, so does she, and with a massive yelp, Rachel lands on the mattress, on her stomach, as the mattress flies down the stairs like the hounds of hell were after it.

She rockets past the camera and there is a resounding crash as the mattress slams into the front door, along with a groan and a shuffle off-screen as Rachel pushes herself up. Soon, she falls back into frame, rubbing her head with an irritated look, wincing as her fingers find the back of her head.]

Building these things is much easier on stage than it is in real life...

[TOTALLY. Although Rachel, by the time Enjolras arrives at Solve, is back on her feet and surveying the damage caused by her massive... disaster of a slide.]

Aah... that's definitely broken --

[He will be heading over to stand next to her, and giving her a short nod.] One of the many reasons why one does not build a barricade atop stairs.

[... a cheek twitch, as Rachel looks up at him with the flattest expression she can muster.]

Thank you for the advice. I figured that one out, thank you very much.

[Well if she can be flat, so can he, so there. :| It's rather given away by his eyes, though.]

So I see. [And then a grin.] Come, let's see what needs to be fixed.

[She tries to look moderately petulant, but Rachel can't quite not return the grin -- because she knows the entire affair was something of a disaster, and even Rachel can appreciate that.]

Alright.

[An Enjolras grin is a very hard thing to resist.]

Excellent. [And shall we assume they do?]

[It will be the best built mattress barricade of all time. Rachel is a pretty tough girl who can pull her weight in the best of situations, so the work gets done fairly quickly --

She even manages to put back together the small table she sort of demolished. It's a little lopsided, but hey, it works.]

Well. That did not take long at all. [Of course it will be! What with these two building it and all] I suppose there is not really a need for holes for muskets, I have not seen any since arriving here.

[She laughs -- Enjolras will never know why, but -- building a barricade with Enjolras -- all she really needs is a Marius to sing A Little Fall Of Rain with near the bottom of the doomed barricade and it truly is a dream come true.]

No, I suppose not -- but you never know, they might be lying around somewhere. You can find all sorts of things if you look hard enough. I've found many old records.

I somehow doubt we would find powder and shot to equip the muskets with. [But he lipquirks, shrugs a little, and surveys their awesome mattress barricade.]

It will, however, serve its purpose.

[She steps up onto the barricade slightly, to peer over the edge -- it takes some doing, as Rachel isn't exactly the tallest person in the world.]

Do you think it will really keep out zombies?

I have never fought zombies before, I cannot precisely say. But I have faith it will.

They aren't as fast or durable as normal people, so if it can keep out the French guard, then I'm sure it'll be fine.

It looks like it could, yes. I am certain we'll be alright.

Well, if I get turned into a zombie, I will come haunt you.

[It's teasing, though, and Rachel peers up over the edge of the barricade experimentally.]

[Enjolras just gives her a slightly bemused look.]

I was not aware 'zombies' haunted people. Is that not more the territory of spirits?

I was only teasing.

[And that bemused look turns into a very small grin.]

I am aware. Do you truly think me entirely serious, mademoiselle?

No one is entirely serious.

[She sounds pretty pleased -- because, well, maybe it's because of his time period -- or maybe it's because he's Enjolras -- but everything he says seems to have some sort of weight and finality to it.]

[He might be actually grinning, a little.]
