[The PCD is now granted to Jesse and Rachel sitting in the theatre that looks like Christmas has arrived early. Tinsel and ornaments and everything Rachel has hoarded for the past... well, since she got here, really, is in piles around them. And Rachel seems to just be finishing a muttered warning of ‘Behave yourself’ to Jesse before she begins to speak.]

Good evening, Adstringendum! We’re looking for volunteers to decorate.

[And Rachel elbows Jesse lightly to continue.]

Preferably those with actual skill, taste and with a normal, sane personality. But this being nearly impossible to find - at least two of the three.

[ And then he mutters to Rachel ‘are you sure about this?’

Rachel’s smile, in response, only becomes tighter, while she works to perform necessary damage control. After shooting Jesse a look that clearly says ‘Yes, I am sure’, she fluffs a stack of papers in her lap. ]

I have already drafted up a list of individuals to designate to specific tastes, which includes decoration, set design, costumes, the ability to chop down a tree, and ornament creation. We would also like to know whether or not individuals who have the ability to sing would like to participate in our holiday extravaganza. Our fellow glee club members, of course, will attend, but I wish for everyone to be involved, not just those of pre-determined talent.

[ Jesse, in response, looks like he might be considering his girlfriend’s sanity, after all. ]

There will be at least one audition though, to make sure we will not sing carols along to Rebecca Black’s voice, or worse, Faith Hill’s ----

What Jesse means to say is that we will be equal opportunity to all individuals who wish to take part in this holy time.

[Keep on smiling, Rachel. Just keep on smiling.]

What - That’s not what I -

[But then he sees Rachel’s expression and well, she can get scary ok? He just gives a small eye roll and then nods. But not without muttering something about ‘they’ll probably be drowned in our awesome vocals anyway’.

And Rachel, for that comment, elbows him lightly, before refocusing her attention on the camera.]

Now! Remember! Everyone deserves a chance to shine! I expect plenty of volunteers and if you do not volunteer, I will certainly come find you. The holiday season is about giving and sharing, not being lazy.

[And she flashes a grin.]

Have at it!

[There is only the briefest flash of dark brown hair as Rachel Berry turns on the PCD and races through the aisles to the stage of the theatre that she has been renovating -- and re-renovating. It appears most of it is cleaned up, from the flood, though there is still some obvious damage... but the stage is clear, which is all that really matters. For a moment, all is quiet, until two figures appear on the stage -- Blaine Anderson and Rachel Berry.

It’s Rachel that speaks first, clasping our hands together with a bright and cheery grin, her voice carrying perfectly throughout the stage.]

Excuse me! It has come to our attention that many of you have been struck deaf, blind, and dumb from this recent event, which has apparently transformed all of you into perfectly normal and defenseless human beings. While I am certain this is a tragedy for most of you, it is actually quite the relief to most of us -- so, without further ado, Blaine and I would like to dedicate this performance to the normal people of the city who can finally get a good night’s sleep.

[And she clears her throat.]

Oh, to be human again! )
[Rachel is calf-deep in water, holding her puppy Evita, staring at the completely and utterly flooded theatre that she has been renovating. Some parts of it have resurfaced as the water has finally begun to recede -- the stage is visible, as is the tips of the chairs of the orchestra pit -- but there is still quite a lot of damage done by the past event.

Her expression isn't shocked, necessarily, but more of a grim acceptance of what is before her, with a definite tinge of sadness in her eyes. Eventually, she hugs the dog a little closer to her chest, despite the squirming, and she finally says, in something of a small tone:]

I suppose Don't Rain On My Parade is woefully inadequate to fit the scene before us, Evita. Perhaps something a little more subtle -- though I don't think even I have a song in my repertoire to fit the bill.

[She rests her chin on the top of the puppy's head, before she adds, a bit miserably.]

... I don't even know where to begin.
somethingspecial: (♪ Walking on sunshine.)
[The dust motes are hanging in the early morning air as the PCD turns on. It shows a dusty space, with rows of seats, a mottled curtain, and a hanging cinema screen on a rather large stage. On the stage is one Miss Rachel Berry -- wearing, for once, rolled up jeans, sneakers, and a large sweatshirt. Half of her body is behind the cinema screen -- she seems to be messing around with something behind it.]

Come on...I know you can go up, I know you can --

[Suddenly, the screen moves -- and you can hear Rachel's triumphant 'yes' from the PCD's position. A few yanks of a chain later and the screen is rolled up neatly against the ceiling, leaving behind an empty stage.

Rachel dusts off her hands before glancing out towards the seats and, for probably the first time since she's been in Adstringendum, Rachel Berry looks completely and utterly at ease, comfortable, happy, in her element.

She steps forward, until the very tips of her toes are hanging off the stage, and her breath catches in her throat as she stares into the empty seats. For the briefest moment, Rachel looks as if she's somewhere else -- her posture is straighter, her eyes are fixated on a crowd that simply isn't there. She raises a hand, her fingers splayed, towards the ceiling of the theatre --

-- before she drops it to her side, breathless with excitement as she rocks back onto the balls of her feet.]

This is going to be perfect.
